autumn

Of all the many joys in life, walking in Piedmont after the season’s first rain ranks very high. Autumn’s fruit is reaching its peak. The leaves, which have not yet all fallen to the ground, display a wild spectrum of colors.

While apple trees are the most popular amongst these front yards, I was wonderfully surprised by the amount of pomegranate and persimmon trees, offering fantastic contrasting colors on a pleasantly gray day. Lime and lemon trees are also favored in this neighborhood, although their branches are always heavily burdened with the weight of their fruit, their owners aren’t harvesting at the speed in which the trees are producing.

October 20th brought much needed rain to Piedmont. This shower served as a great appetizer for the atmospheric river the Bay Area received on October 24th.
